Local Love For the Holidays 2024 Recap

This Holiday season, BRWIA, the High Country Food Hub and the Local Food as Medicine (LocalFAM) program partnered with Blue Cross Blue Shield NC, Piedmont Custom Meats, Impact Health, Blowing Rock Cares, Casting Bread, Feeding Avery Families, and Food Lion of Blowing Rock to purchase and distribute local veggies and sausage plus delicious hams to our neighbors in need this holiday season.

Blue Cross Blue Shield NC donated $4,000 towards this Local Love food program. 

Thanks to an incredible community effort, 120 local families received the gift of fresh, local food this holiday season!

With $2,000 in donations from High Country Food Hub customers, matched by Impact Health, and additional support from Blue Cross Blue Shield, Food Lion of Blowing Rock, and Piedmont Custom Meats, the Local Love Program raised $7,825. This funded over 2,170 pounds of local produce, sausage, and hams for 120 holiday meal kits.

Local food pantry partners Casting Bread, Blowing Rock Cares, and Feeding Avery Families distributed the kits. A huge thank you to the 20 amazing local producers, our community partners, and everyone who helped share the gift of local goodness!
